His customer service was excellent, and every meal was special because he took such good care of us. We so thoroughly enjoyed talking and getting to know him. Our dining butler was Joel, and he was as superb as the rest of the staff. It was those personal, thoughtful touches by the staff throughout our entire stay that made our visit so special. We danced and clapped and laughed and celebrated. So at dinner, the staff came out of the kitchen singing, dancing, drumming and horn blowing to celebrate. Our arrival date happened to be my husbands birthday. They were absolutely the best, and the unobstructed views of the Mara were fantastic. By the way, our group was in tents number 1, 2, 3 and 4. Laying in bed, overlooking the Mara, and watching the sun come up with a cup of hot chocolate in your hand - was heaven. Each morning he quietly woke us up with tea and coffee and cookies. Our room steward was Simon, and he was excellent, and took great care of us and our room. The open air shower and toilet room were unusual, and definitely added a sense of novelty to the experience! I can say without a doubt, that the shower was the best we had in our entire stay in Kenya, Hands down.

I have a king bed at home, and this bed was even bigger, and deliciously comfortable. The new tents are fantastic, and the ultimate in comfort. When we were there 6 years ago, we had the "old" tents and thought they were great. We immediately had lunch, and then checked in to our tents. Our game drive lasted for several hours, and it was about 3pm when we returned to the lodge. I like to think that we're a pretty fun group, so there was ALWAYS lots of joking and laughing going on. Their tracking skills and knowledge were fantastic, and the game drive was incredibly fun. They listened to what we were interested in seeing (everything) and any special requests we had (male lion and a cheetah). But because it appeared that rain might be coming in the late afternoon, the guides suggested we leave immediately for a game drive and hope to beat the rain. Our plane landed at 11am, and typically we would have been taken straight to the camp to check in and relax before lunch, with a scheduled game drive in the late afternoon. We had a wonderful time snacking and munching, while getting to know Jackson and Eric. Jackson and Eric had laid out a nice table with tea/coffee/hot chocolate, along with wonderful snacks- cookies/plantain chips/nuts and seeds. To say we were excited to be there is an understatement. We were a group of 8 (4 couples), and so we assigned two safari vehicles for maximum comfort and viewing. When we landed, we were greeted at the airstrip by our two guides Jackson and Eric. We were at Kichwa Tembo camp in the fall of 2012, and haven't had the opportunity to return until this week.
